Restaurant Type: American
Green Street Tavern has been a “go-to” restaurant for Tracy and me for more than a year. The food has always been good here, but the service at our last dinner dropped their “maitai” rating for now. But as I said, we have never been disappointed in one of its meals, so that’s what I will concentrate on for this little review.
Entering Green Street Tavern, you walk into a smaller room that has a few tables and a small bar (beer and wine only). We’ve dined in this are and it is definitely quieter than the main dining room (photo from restaurant website).
We were led into the main dining room (city of Pasadena website photo). When the room is full, the noise is energetic, but not too loud…just the kind of place I like.
On this evening, we were dining with friends Kevin and Melissa along with Northern California friends, Tom and Martha. At first the service was personable and fast as our knowledgeable wine server went over the various choices. opened with Miniature Baked Brie, almond-encrusted, roast garlic, honey-roasted fig compote, herb baguette ($14.00…to share with the table). It was excellent.
We’ve enjoyed a few salads, too (hey we have to eat veggies sometimes). They run about $10 or $11.
I’ve had a couple of great desserts here (I am the group’s designated dessert guy). This last time I tried White Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding with blueberry and white chocolate sauce ($8). It was out of this world.
